Business overdraft protection

What are overdraft and NSF fees?

An overdraft fee can occur if the dollar amount of your transaction is more than the amount of money available in your account. If Think pays for the item, you may be charged an overdraft fee of $22.

A non-sufficient funds fee (NSF fee) may apply if the dollar amount of your check payment or recurring payment is more than the amount of money available in your account and the transaction is denied. If this happens, you may be charged an NSF fee of $22.

We provide several options to help you prevent or manage fees and provide you with peace of mind that your transactions will clear.

Ways to help avoid overdraft and NSF fees

The easiest way to ensure you always have a positive balance is to monitor your account balance with Think Online as you make purchases and payments and by setting up account alerts to send you a notification when your balance is getting low. It's also a good practice to build a cushion of funds in your account to prevent unintentional overdrafts and related fees.

Tips to avoid fees:

Overdraft protection options

Link a line of credit*
If your account balance does go negative, using a line of credit is the best option to avoid fees, provides the best experience and helps ensure your transactions are paid. You can link a line of credit (LOC) to your checking account to help cover your overdrafts.  With this option your LOC will automatically advance available funds up to your credit limit to cover your overdraft transactions. There is no fee to have available funds advance automatically or manually. You only pay interest on the amount advanced.

This is the best option to help ensure payments are covered as it includes check and electronic payments, everyday transactions made with a debit card and cash withdrawals at an ATM.

*When applying for a line of credit, standard underwriting guidelines apply.  Line of credit advances will be drawn in the lesser of: $100 increments or the remaining available line of credit balance or the amount of the overdraft when the overdraft is less than the available line of credit balance and $100.

Link a savings account

You can link a savings account to your checking account to help cover your overdrafts. With this option, available funds will automatically transfer to your checking account to cover your overdraft transactions.  There is no fee to have available funds automatically transferred from your savings account to cover an overdraft.

This option does not cover everyday transactions made with a debit card or making cash withdrawals at an ATM.  Consider linking a line of credit for overdraft protection to help avoid declined debit card and ATM transactions.

Standard business overdraft practice**

With our standard overdraft practice, we may authorize transactions made using your checking account number including checks and electronic bill payments if you overdraft. Our standard overdraft practice also includes everyday debit card transactions and ATM transactions. This standard overdraft practice is included with every checking account.

**We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.
