Think Bank volunteers made the 6th Annual Finance Camp a huge success! Together, we gave hands-on financial education through a “game” of life to approximately 300 students taking the Personal Finance class at Century, John Marshall, and Mayo High Schools.
As students arrived, they used their chosen career and its beginning salary to budget for their life – paying their rent/mortgage, purchasing a vehicle and insurance, setting a grocery and personal needs budget, deciding how much to save/invest, and more. After visiting each station, students balanced their budget and noted the changes needed to live the life they desire.
“We started preparing for this day at the beginning of the year, and I look forward to seeing each student put their knowledge into action,” said James McCormick, Business Education teacher at Mayo HS and director of Finance Camp. “The real world is full of big decisions, and we are proud to give our students needed practical knowledge to manage a budget as they journey into adulthood.”
We are proud to be a part of this event with financial support and with 35 volunteers from our team who lead the different stations with their professional financial knowledge and experience.
